Flouride is safe & effective.

We all know that fluoride is the proven method to reduce tooth decay. After all, it’s an active ingredient in toothpaste, mouth rinses, many public water systems, and even in some foods.
Children may begin taking fluoride supplements at six months. Depending on the amount of fluoride in the local water system, the child’s diet and other factors, they may need to continue supplementing the fluoride in their diet until the age of 16.
Fluoride can decrease the decay rate by 50 percent. Best of all, only small amounts of fluoride are necessary to keep your child’s teeth healthy for a lifetime. But it is necessary to limit the amount of fluoride your child takes.
Monitor your child’s brushing and fluoride intake. Although fluoride has been determined to be safe and effective, it’s recommended that toothpaste remain out of reach of small children. Toothpaste is a great way to reduce decay, but when ingested can cause a fluoride overdose. It’s suggested that only a pea-sized amount of toothpaste be used, and that children be monitored to ensure swallowing does not occur.
