Stomach Aches

While we may not fear a trip to the dentist for a routine checkup and cleaning as an adult, your child might. And with that fear, they can develop a stomachache that may resemble a cold or flu.
When they’re afraid, their stomachs work overtime. Just like adults, kids worry. But when they worry, it’s 100% -- there’s no in-between. So the simple trip to the dentist becomes a cause for alarm and a stomachache begins.
Calm the stomach with some good parenting. Crackers and water may help relieve the aches, but some reassuring words from a loving parent can do wonders. Let your child know that Dr. Bill is his or her friend. That he or she can trust Dr. Bill and his team of dental professionals. And that by cleaning and checking the child’s teeth, Dr. Bill may be able to catch a problem before it becomes serious.
Do some pretending. Set up a little pretend dentist office in your child’s room and play out the visit using his or her stuffed animals. By role-playing with your child, he or she will often overcome any fears and associate good thoughts with the dentist.
Talk with Dr. Bill about other calming strategies. He’s been helping kids and parents for decades, so he knows quite a few ways to keep kids happy. Call 541-672-5535 and make an appointment for your child today.
